WNW 1.12.07- Stay Out The Bush’s (Way)

January 12th, 2007 by Justin

In an uncertain world of turmoil and strife, whom can we turn to for a summery of happenings from this, our global village? The answer is Shaun Barnes, his World News Weekly column begins now…

The decider has spoken. He (Bush) has decided, among other things, to “surge” 21,500 U.S. troops to Iraq, hold Nouri al-Maliki’s Iraqi government to its promises on sectarian reconciliation, and definitely not negotiate with Iran and Syria. In fact, on that last point, reports are emerging of a U.S. raid on an Iranian consulate in Iraq in which six terrorist-linked suspects were nabbed.

The Congressional response to the speech was predictably chipper, with plenty of outright denunciations, including Republican Senator Chuck Hagel’s appellation of the plan as “most dangerous policy blunder […] since Vietnam”, as well as a bill to pull the financial plug on the new initiative, submitted by none other than Ted “Casket Aged” Kennedy himself. No one should really be surprised by this kind of criticism at time when agreeing with Bush is the political equivalent of wearing a Yankees cap and a “Ask Me How I Molested Your Child” t-shirt in Fenway Park, but doesn’t anyone out there give a rat’s ass about the consequences of failure in Iraq?

Yes, the war was sold to the public under dubious pretences and was poorly planned, but it happened and we’re there. The fact remains that right now, an Iraq left to its own devices will likely become a killing space that’ll make Gaza look like a cafeteria food fight. And those Iranians you’ve heard about running around in the south…expect to see a lot more of them and the terrorist organizations they back, to say nothing of Osama’s gang, who are already on site. I say, if you’re going to shit on the administration’s ideas, have a few of your own at the ready or at least have the balls to admit that you think we’ve already lost.

NEWS AND NOTES

• American warplanes strike high-value terrorist targets, mules.

• Does Animal Farm not translate well into Spanish? Because, this guy totally missed the point.

• Who said Nazis can’t be funny?
