America Finally Gets The Shrill Catholic Mother It Always Secretly Wanted

So the Dems actually pulled it out. They had an opportunity and they capitalized on it. Wow, I have to say I am kind of in shock. Listening to the radio last night as the results came in I began to understand how the original War of the Worlds broadcast frightened people. It was just enough like reality that you had to believe it, but too bizarre to really accept as fact. I really can’t describe how shocked I am that the Dems didn’t fuck this up. Wow.
Going around the horn, The Times and MSNBC are going with the same “Dems win House, Senate Hangs…” theme whilst CNN is focusing on the tied Senate count which now comes down to recounts in Montana and Virginia. So get your grease paint together kids, because we are going to have a straight up circus in both instances.
News and Notes:
• The campaign began last night for John McCain and he sure took advantage of the opportunity to paint himself as “part of the solution.”
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., a likely 2008 presidential contender, said Republicans had lost their way, telling NBC News anchor Brian Williams that “many in our base believed we valued power over principle.”
“I think people have a frustration,” he said. “It reflects on the president, as well. We can’t continue to frivolously spend on these pork-barrel projects and call ourselves fiscal conservatives.”
I also heard him say on Fox News that the best person to clean GOP house is Ronald Reagan. I guess it was kind of a long night.
• By far the least mentioned but most interesting result from last night? Arnold Fucking Schwarzenegger rolling to a double digit win in California. On a night when even popular Repubs got slaughtered in liberal states, nobody could touch the Governator.
