Back In The Bitchfest

and I didn't even have to fuck with a Balrog

Hello everyone, my name is Justin Robert Young and I am here to write a mediocre media criticism blog.

I apologize for the time off, it was over long and awkward. During my sabbatical I moved from the festering media hive of New York City to the comparative sleepy hollow of South Florida. The upside? I now have a day job that does not frown upon my internet dalliances and a schedule that allows me time to think up bizarre obscenities at quicker rate with which I can pin upon a veritable carousel of deserving targets. So we have that going for us.

He sounded like John Voight in The PrestigeHowever, as David Bowie once said “time changes stuff… or something” and MBF has not been spared. For instance, due to the hilarious success of Worst Lede of The Week (btw thanks to those who continued to send me tip offs during the transition) I would like to make this site a little more interactive. For instance, Three Stars of the Newscycle will no longer just be me trolling Google News to weave a loose theme of inane mularkey. Rather, it will be a loosely weaved mularkey quilt made with patches of wisdom from you, the 15 people who read this site. If there is a story/picture/message board/tidbit you find in any way remarkable, send it to Justin@MediaBitchfest.com and we can compile a fun little list. The message doesn’t need to come with commentary but it is always apprieciated. To allow for our night owl readers (i.e. Graf and Copy Katie) this may affect the 5 o’ clock timing the feature used to hinge on, but oh well.

The site will also start to feature a few more regular contributers. And lo, the new International Bitchfest Report, authored by George Washington University graduate student and former public school teacher Shaun Barnes, will debut this Friday. Over the next few days, folks will be desperately solicited for regular columns but if you have an idea for one, please email me, Justin@Mediabitchfest.com, please.

Before you ask, it looked like a hard boiled eggThere are going to be more Battlestar Galatica references, so if you aren’t watching, start. I am in no way kidding.

Also, I think there may be prizes for the Worst Lede of the Week. In fact, I am pretty sure there will be. So make sure to send them in, Wednesday is still the deadline. Remember, to protect our nefarious web of employed journos all tips remain anonymous unless clearly stated otherwise.

And that’s about it, I missed all of you terribly. But John Kerry most of all.

So nerds are calling the trick where the Galactica drops into the atmosphere, deploys it’s fighters, then makes an FTL jump, the “Adama Maneuver.” Get it? It’s like the Picard Maneuver from Star Trek!

Coming from a guy that looks like Gaida, that says a lot.

Battlestar is the greatest show on television, hands down.

Ha! Haha. You know I never really thought about that, but I see the resemblance, but as for Battlestar, I’m done and done with it. I’m not forgiving with story cheat defusions-which I would define the end of season two as having in spaaaaaaaaaaaaades.

On another note, the man is true to his word. No polar bear reminders. Kudos!

It’s spelled Gaeta, and coincidentally, he’s my favorite character.

My sincere apologies, I don’t know where my mind went on that one. Gaeta along with the rest of the show have GREATLY benefited from the reboot at the end of Season 2.

Quite simply, if you are not watching Battlestar Galactica right now you are missing out on the best sci fi television of modern era and easily some of the most thought interesting social commentary on television.

First of all, I guess I need to start watching “Battlestar Galactica.”
Second of all … YAY! MBF returns!

“Fine. You win.” It’s redeemed itself.
