…cause Media Bitchfest is one. Yup, one year ago me and Rob Howard decided to stake our claim in this internet and start kvetching about journalism and stuff, because no one had ever done that before.

I would just like to thank all 15 of our readers: Beth, Sports Reporter Rachel, Nora, Copy Katie, Shawn Anderson, Katie Walsh, The Incomparable KKKati Rivers, Possibly Shaun Barnes, Cousin Jon, P. Wolfe Andrew, Ash Graf, Snowflake, The Genius Matthew Finley, Hawaiian Rob Howard and me.

See, 15, it’s not just a clever joke.

Here is the MBF mission statement run exactly a year ago and remember, as always, to give her one for Media Bitchfest.

Let’s roll.

See, that was a tasteless reference to the attacks on September 11. I had no reason to do that, but I did. Why? Because I couldn’t think of anything else and I am lazy.

Now what have we learned? Nothing. Why? Because this shit happens all the time in journalism. Corners are cut and mistakes are made. To paraphrase Mr. Show with Bob and Dave, you can’t expect us to make a quality product at an affordable price without it containing some hair and rat feces.

See I didn’t even check that quote! I just wrote it down from memory, the same memory that thought Empire Records was worth watching again and allows me to continue rooting for the Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s most likely wrong, but if it is who will call me out on it? Where is the invisible hand of snarky commentary to give a mollusk like me the old UFIA? Welcome to MediaBitchfest.com, where you can expect us to make fun of ledes and coverage and forget to spellcheck.
