Stephen Colbert decides to brandish his snark sword and spill the entrails of Good Morning America and The Today Show. In your face.
However I think we can all agree as Americans that The Colbert Report has easily outpaced The Daily Show (except John Hodgman) at this point. Every time Jon Stewart does a predictable, hacky “get it, Bush is a bad president” joke an angel falls from heaven. This would have never happened on Kilborn’s watch.
Seriously, everyone who thinks The Daily Show (except John Hodgman) hasn’t jumped the shark put your hands up. Now hands down everyone who voted for Gore and Kerry. Okay, now everyone who voted for Howard Dean in 2006 just to “show them.” Okay, now everyone who attended a MoveOn.org meet-up session and thought about giving a wicked bathroom heej to the guy in the Jello Biafra t-shirt.
Just as I suspected.
