Shut Up Stupid

At least he turned his phone on vibrateMy love for Science Tuesday is rooted in the faith that when I open up the stories, based on past experiences, I feel reasonably confident that the methodology and conclusions will be solid and no matter how fantastic the premise of the story, I can prepare to be amazed.

College kids built a primitive laser beam? I’ll buy it.

Scientists want to block a portion of the sun to stop global warming? Now that’s something.

Crab walking cures cancer? I made that up, but if it were in Science Tuesday I’d think twice about it.

This is not Science Tuesday, this is why the press rubber-stamping junk science is a problem. This is: Mobile phone driving as bad as being drunk. This is an admitted 40-person sample size, which is invalidating small. This is one of the professors who administered the study advocating legislation against cell phone driving in the nut graf, great objectivity, dick. This is apparently paying college kids to drink a screwdriver and calling that ‘drunk.’

Ugh.
